Lord Howe Island





Lord Howe Island is a small island in the Pacific Ocean. Ball along with the Pyramids, the island is administered by the Lord Howe Island Board, one of 175 local authority in the state of New South Wales. The island is not considered part of the local governments of Australia, but it was ruled by the Lord Howe Island Board. This island group is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 because of its uniqueness.

At Pyramid Ball, part of the island, was found in 2001 insects Dryococelus australis, previously considered extinct. This phenomenon is called a Lazarus taxon.
