Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Tiger’s Nest Monastery

Tiger's Nest Monastery, located at the end of 3000 foot-high cliff in Paro Valley, this monastery is one of the most sacred places in Bhutan. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche, the second Buddha, flew into a cliff with a female riding a tiger, and then meditated in a cave that now exists within the monastery walls.
Monastery, officially known as the Taktshang Goemba, built in 1692 and reconstructed in 1998 after a fire. Now, the monastery is restricted to the deepening of the Buddhist religion and the limits to ordinary tourists.
