On the west bridge port can be seen a small group and connected to the main island by a canal. The island was originally an area of 13 acres of uninhabited, but later functioned as a Sydney Water Police headquarters (Sydney Water Police). The policemen are on duty to detain criminals in and out and staking the robbers who wanted to run away by sea.
The island which was dubbed as the Cockatoo Island was also briefly used as a bacteriological station. Until then change the function back into the ship repair center.
